Page 2 of “How to Begin your Journey”

Abraham is a father to us all and an example of how to live a Faith-Journey.
- From start to finish.
- And everywhere in between.
- (His name was Abram until the LORD (YHVH) changed his name to Abraham.)
‘Now the LORD had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him, and Lot went with him.’ Genesis 12:1-4
- The LORD (YHVH) spoke to Abram.
- There are 3 parts to what the LORD said to Abram.
The LORD told Abram to leave.
- His country
- His family (brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles – not his wife)
- His father’s house
The LORD told Abram to go to a place that He would later show him.
The LORD made several promises to Abram.
- “I will make you a great nation.”
- “I will bless you.”
- “I will make your name great.”
- “You shall be a blessing.”
- “I will bless those who bless you.”
- “I will curse those who curse you.”
- “In you all of the families of the earth will be blessed.”
The LORD made 7 promises to Abram.
- He makes the same 7 promises to each of us.
- He tells us to leave the same 3 things that He told Abram to leave.
- He tells us to go to a place that He will show (reveal) to us.
The LORD once told me, “I will do everything for you that I did for Abraham.”
- The LORD is not a respecter of persons.
- He will do the same for you.
- With the same expectations of you that He had from Abram.
- We walk in the footsteps of our father Abraham.
What was Abram’s response?
- He obeyed the commands.
- And believed in the promises.
We are to do the same.
- Obeying the commands qualifies us to receive the promises.
- Abram left, began journeying and began believing for the promises.
Abram didn’t always get it completely right.
- He did get it completely right by the end.
- The LORD rewarded his faith.
- And helped him to come to complete obedience.
Application:
We are on a Faith-Journey that is much like Abraham’s.
- We obey what the LORD tells us to do.
- We stay in a place of faith towards the Promises that YHVH makes to us.
- We don’t get it completely right at the start.
- Our Journey is a faith-journey towards complete obedience.
Please don’t be any harder on yourself than Father was on Abraham.
- Father is delighted with your every baby step into faith.
- Remember what He said to you?
- “You are my beloved son with whom I am well pleased.”
Abba God meant every word of what He said to you as His son.
- Your job is to start out on your Faith-Journey.
- His job is help you along the way.
- You start out.
- You keep going.
- Don’t quit.
- As you walk He will make you more and more like Jesus.
Every time that He shows you new revelation start walking in it and keep on walking.
- Leave behind your old ways of thinking and acting.
- Start walking towards whatever He shows you.
- Believe every promise that He makes to you.
- Each promise will manifest in its proper time.
- It’s not rocket science.
- It’s simple faith and obedience.
