How do we get to speak face-to-face to God?

When does God know us?

3 types of oneness

The Full Package of a Face-to-Face Relationship with the LORD

To have a true face-to-face relationship with the LORD involves four dimensions:

  • Seeing Him face to face
  • Talking with Him face to face
  • The LORD knowing us face to face
  • Us knowing the LORD face to face, as He knows us face to face

Yeshua’s Words About Being Known “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” — Matthew 7:21–23 (NKJV)

Yeshua draws a clear line:

  • He knows those who do not practice lawlessness.
  • He does not know those who practice lawlessness.

What Does It Mean to “Know” God — or for Him to “Know” Us?

The word “know” here does not refer to mere infused knowledge or awareness. It refers to Oneness — a shared, intimate union.

  • He becomes One with us first.
  • Then, we become One with Him in return.

The Three Types of Oneness In earlier teaching, I described two kinds of Oneness:

  1. Positional Oneness
  2. Functional Oneness

That was only partially correct.

There are actually three kinds of Oneness:

  1. Relational Oneness
  2. Positional Oneness
  3. Functional Oneness

1. Relational Oneness

Yeshua had Relational Oneness with the Father before He had Positional Oneness.

  • After overcoming the devil in the wilderness, Yeshua was seated on His own throne.
  • From that point, He was in the Father, and the Father was in Him.
  • The Father began showing Him all that He was doing, so that Yeshua could begin doing the same works.

This Relational Oneness led to Functional Oneness, but it was not yet Positional Oneness.

Why not?

Because Yeshua was seated on His own throne, not yet seated with the Father on the Father’s Throne.

The works Yeshua was shown to do were those that the Father had been doing — works Yeshua could now do from His own throne.

2. Positional Oneness

Yeshua came into Positional Oneness after His Resurrection and Ascension.

  • He sat down next to the First Person of the Godhead, in various places in the first two levels of God’s Heaven.
  • At this point, He had both Positional Oneness and a higher level of Functional Oneness.
  • His function on Earth now flowed from His position in Heaven.

3. Functional Oneness

We, too, can begin to operate in Functional Oneness even before our bodily ascension.

  • Though we have not yet bodily sat down on these Thrones, we can ascend in Spirit and Soul to sit there.
  • We await the bodily change or resurrection to sit down bodily upon them.

In this way, we begin functioning from Heaven toward Earth.
